Thursday 8th to Tuesday 13 October, Almira Shipyard

Final 18 miles today to the Almira Shipyard (not boatyard) just 4 miles west of the Corinth Canal. No wind so motored across the Saronic Gulf to a mooring buoy to await lift out on Friday morning. Once on the bouy, off with the sails and folding them on the deck and wait until the morning.
As we’ve discovered in the past, boats will often try to jump the queue by hovering off the lifting dock and jump in at the first opportunity. This morning was no exception and Almira was having nothing of it and sent the boats packing. So were called first, (as we had emailed so they knew we would be first out) and had to enter the dock stern too. Fortunately there was no wind and Jacana behaved. Within seconds of entering the dock, men jumped on board, took lines, dealt with the fenders laid a passerelle for us to get off, all very efficient. And within an hour or so, we were cradled up, with a list of close down jobs.
Our flight home is on Tuesday, so a fairly leasurely 4 days.
