Thursday 2nd to Friday 3rd July, Akti Bay, Kalymnos

We’d ideally liked to have anchored off Pserimos for a night, but because of the constant armada of tourist boats from Kos, we reluctantly gave it a miss, instead opting for somewhere on the eastern coast of Kalymnos. We initially had a look in Vathi, and despite there being spaces on the wall, we decided on somewhere a bit quieter, Akti Bay just to the south of Vathi, and we had the choice of the bay! Now why is it, that given the entire bay, the next boat to anchor ends up a couple of boat lengths away? As night fell the wind picked up and from all directions, and with the only other boat at anchor being so close, we had no choice but to wind in a bit of anchor chain, otherwise we’d have wrapped our chain around his at some point in the night.
Big mistake!, at 0245 in the morning, we were woken up by the anchor alarm only to discover that we were heading for Turkey! Thankfully we’d only dragged the anchor a few meters, but sufficient to need to reset the anchor, this time well away from the boat that seemed to be attracted to us!
