Tuesday 25 June
Woke at 0745 to the sound of the Belgian barge behind us starting up and moving off for the 0800 lock opening. Ann decided to do a bit of yoga on the bank whilst I got the breakfast ready and we set off about 1030. Only one 2m lock in today’s 10 miles, and I suspect that the lock keepers are beginning to trust us as we were given a remote control for the remaining Marne River locks. Stopped at about 1400 in a small village called La-Ferte-sous-Jouarre on a (free) pontoon devoid of all cleats and apart from us and a French chap living on his boat next to us, who we conversed with via Google translate, had a great evening listening to our radio request on Brian Player’s live Wey Valley radio show.
