Wednesday 1st to Sunday 5th Oct, Skala, Patmos

The turn of Patmos for a few days, exploring the town of Skala, and walking up to the strange fortified monastery of St John the Theologian in the Chora, built in the 11th century. Unfortunately, on the way back down, the Holy cave of the Apocalypse was closed, although we did visit it the following day and where allegedly John wrote the book of Revelation. We stumbled across a very nice hotel while climbing the steep steps behind the village. The Patmos Eye Hotel offered a stunning view and intimate seating for 2 where we enjoyed an aperitif. With rooms over €250 per night we decided to sleep on Jacana. 🤣
